i saw this tweet today: “I blame Ne-Yo, Beyonce, & Webbie for making me believe that being independent was a good thing. Fck that! Apparently, it’s not attractive.”

it made me so angry that i couldn’t help but write about it.

personally, i think it’s your own choice to emulate the image of “miss independent” or not to, and you shouldn’t leave it up to someone or something else to decide that for you, even if it’s a song by an award-winning, multi-platinum artist. if you’re dependent on other people, that’s cool. if you’re independent, that’s cool too.

whichever it is, be true to yourself. if independent is just who you are, deal with it. on that note, whoever says that being independent isn’t attractive just isn’t the person you’re meant to be with. it doesn’t mean you change your views or lifestyle just to fit into their ideal of “attractive.”

i reviewed yesterday’s notes before going to sleep last night.

i looked over the new material for today on the bus ride to campus.

i showed up to class early, with time to spare for a cup of coffee.

i payed attention and took notes the whole lecture.

i recorded the lecture on my own, and made plans to will listen to it later.

i looked over the new problem set on the bus ride back home.

i reviewed today’s notes over lunch when i got back to the apartment.

i think hell is freezing over right now, because i have finally gotten on the right track to actually learning and retaining material from my classes. too bad, it came 4 years and a nearly complete biochemistry B.S. too late.
